Coping with a slippery eel

This week I have two cooking related entries. Both are used in preparing eels for cooking.

meuchi 目打ち

Is this the same knife that the mother is using in episode 3 of Nuku Nuku?

No she is using a mioroshi deba, a regular filleting knife used for fish. The one used for eels in the Kanto area has a triangular tip that resembles those on some swords.
