Tokyo Stroll Supplement: Regular Events and Festivals

A friend and I were talking a week or so ago about how handy it would be to have a list of recurring event dates in Tokyo for future trips. So I went through the current version of Tokyo Stroll (the release is still delayed by the pandemic) and put such a list together for what was in the book and holidays.

Here is what I have so far.

Tokyo Stroll Supplement: Regular Events and Festivals

I will slowly add more. With the pandemic most event and festivals pages are sparse which shall slow down the process. I'm also going to focus for now on neighborhoods in the book. As I start adding events for neighborhoods not in the book I'll also add those locations to the Additional Entries, Corrections, and Locations page.

There is now a Tokyo Stroll Facebook group

I have created a new public Facebook group called Tokyo Stroll related to my forthcoming book of the same name.
This group is for discussing visiting Tokyo and nearby areas that are suitable to day trips. Enjoy, ask questions, make suggestions of places to visit.

Please keep posts on topic.

Tokyo Stroll Supplement web page update

The Tokyo Stroll Supplement web pages are now live.

I was going to wait until a few weeks before the book is released to make the pages public. However as I recorded a presentation called "Tokyo on the Cheap for (the virtual) FanimeCon 2021 I decided to do so now.

http://www.koyagi.com/TokyoStroll/TSmain.html

For those interested in the presentation the registration cost for FanimeCon 2021 is only $10.

If you registered for 2020 your ticket is rolled over for 2021 and 2022.

Wave Listen to Me!

I just finished reading volume 5 of Samura Hiroaki's Wave Listen to Me! In this volume the store take a turn to being stranger, and in a very good way. While I greatly enjoyed his earlier Blade of the Immortal I find his works set in modern times far more enjoyable.

Penguin Highway

I just finished reading the novel Penguin Highway by Morimi Tomihiko author of The Tatami Galaxy, The Night Is Short, Walk On Girl, and The Eccentric Family. This one was a delight. The entire book is written from the standpoint of Aoyama, a 4th grader who loves to learn new things. Armed with his curiosity and a growing series of notebooks as he and his friends explore the areas near the suburb they live in while avoiding conflict with the Suzuki Empire. Suzuki is a boy at school with two minions who likes to throw his weight around. Aoyama also has a good friendship with a lady who works at the local dentist. Then one day on the way to school a group of penguins is spotted, then things start to get strange. Aoyama starts adding more entries into his notebooks as he tries to solve this mystery, and others that start cropping up.

After I reading the last of the novel, I turned the page to find an afterword by none other than Hagio Moto.

The anime feature is also worth viewing, both are available for purchase at Right Stuf.
